leftover lunch

in my effort to cook the book, i made pasta with caramelized onions and blue cheese. super good. and great the next day. and i'll tell ya - these recipes are so simple that i actually have most of the ingredients most of the time. i had the pasta and the onion hanging around and happened to have some leftover blue cheese...DONE.

cook the book

i've had the moosewood simple suppers cookbook for about 5 years and have never once made anything from it even though every (really, EVERY recipe...except for the fish chapter) sounds SO GOOD. so decided to cook the book...each time i actually take the time to officially make something, it is from this book. i've actually made a lot so far. everything is super..simple. for real. really easy, really great and with stuff that i generally have anyway. pictured above is the roasted ratatouille which was dynamite.

valentine making party

for the past four years, my friend and i have thrown a valentine making party. just a fun night to get together with friends and make valentine's for our loved ones. valentine's day was special in our house growing up - with handmade cards and fancy dinners (and desserts), so i have an appreciation for the holiday and celebration. these three are what i made this year - really not my best work!

surprise

i made a surprise ball as part of a christmas gift. it is been delivered, so now i can share a bit of it. i collected a bunch of little things - including some tiny toys from 5below, penny candy from a chocolate shop, tiny birds and a woven button from the thrift store, some crystals from etsy, a friendship bracelet from a kid's craft show and some acorns that i decorated. i got the idea from sandra juto's blog and used heidi's instructions...it was pretty easy and fun to do on a snowy saturday night watching elf...oh man, i already miss christmas time.

jumbo holiday handbook

i love this amazing craft book for kids that i found on etsy! it is full of fun stuff to make and just to look at! no holiday is left uncrafted and it is organized by months of the year so you can craft straight on till next year! the christmas section features toilet paper santas, which was a favorite of my grandmom. and OHMYGOODNESS i can't wait to dive into the valentine's section for the annual valentine's making party!

i lived here

visiting a city where i lived in 5 places in 2 years got me thinking about a new project - photographing all the homes that i have had. this was my last apartment in san diego. a pretty great place, full of friends and wood panelling. my room was the bottom left window. i loved that i could look out of my little window and see palm trees from my bed.

air plant

i don't understand it, but i guess i don't need to. eventually i want to just display it resting on 2 little nails painted to match the wall so it's just sort of floating. it's from terrain, naturally.
