the daygo

i love my san diego tote from maptote. i love catching a glimpse of a neighborhood name while i'm carrying it and thinking of silly stories of that place!

12/10/09

shoes.

the great fall/winter shoe search is still going on (does it ever end??), but i'm happy with these cuties from etsy. haven't exactly worn them yet...but soon...maybe.

12/9/09

pop bottles

this teeny little tray with bottle and glasses is from my grandmom's house. my sister and i would spend large amounts of every visit pouring everyone a glass.

12/8/09

line and shape

an accordion basket at my parent's house

12/7/09

i heart it

sweet vintage fabric i scored at a thrift store in my hometown.

12/6/09

fix your lip

sometimes mikey's little lips get stuck on his teeth. it is hilarious. i say "fix your lip!!" and then he looks at me like this. good times.

12/5/09

second haul

jackpot! my second trip to my own little north pole proved very successful! i got a few cute ornaments, a sweet reindeer, pretty ribbon and a bunch of magazines. the christmas balls have winter scenes in them complete with styrofoam snow!

12/4/09

christmas parade part 2

a GIANT plow, a living snowglobe, bulldozer of fresh snow, red tractor followed by eight john DEER tractors (christmas tractor jokes!) and then HERE COMES SANTA!

christmas parade part 1

a parade of firetrucks, firemen giving out candy, floats, decorated trucks and more...

12/3/09

shoppers stroll

the shoppers stroll in the village of clinton featured roasted chestnuts, a reading of the night before christmas and a parade featuring a zamboni (probably driven by kirk).

12/2/09

garland

my sister made this pretty garland for thanksgiving. we hung it allover the house.

11/30/09

pongo or perdita?

if i ever make my pet portrait wall, i'm totally stealing this portrait of my great aunt nell's dalmatian that now hangs in my parent's house.

11/29/09

the cutest things on a sled ever

i love this little ornament i just got. tiny and wrapped with yarn, they are sitting a sled back to back. they must be going fast because their scarves are blowing in the wind!

11/28/09

first crop

there is a tiny thrift store in my hometown that always has really good holiday items. this is what i got on my first christmas visit. i'm really trying to cool it and only get things i love, so i had to pass up some real gems!

11/27/09

2123

i love this doorway in my neighborhood.

11/26/09

project

i have been looking for a crystal/rough gem necklace for months and am finally attempting to make one myself. and by "myself" i mean that i bought some stones on etsy and now my awesome mother is making it for me!

11/25/09

walking on sunshine

i just got these amazing yellow rubber espirit shoes from etsy. they arrived just in time for a rainy streak and brightened up the cloudy days.

11/24/09

cold weather favorite

it doesn't look great, but it tastes amazing! grits with egg and pancetta. so so so super easy to make and good for a wintry breakfast or dinner. i usually put some garlicy greens on there, too, but it really doesn't need it.

11/23/09

phillies phever

there's just no cure.

11/22/09

a rainy day

d

spent at the arcade. we had a blast and won tons of tickets.

11/21/09

long ago...

and so far away. just a few more pictures from my time in north carolina in october. i had so much fun visiting my friends and relaxing on the big green couch! i missed it so!

10/15/09

ask miss belle for some of her sweet tea

pulled pork with coleslaw + fried okra (and hush puppies and a pitcher of sweet tea) at thigs’s bbq house.

10/13/09

snead’s ferry

i’ve been away in north carolina, in an unfortunately-named tiny town right on the water.

10/7/09

the snack you can pack

mini togo packages of pickles! sweet petites!

10/5/09

score!

i recently had the best day ever at the thrift store! i started to wonder if it was some kind of trick and stacy and clinton were about to jump out and confront me over my love of polka dots. the above is what i got after some tough choices made in the dressing room.

10/4/09

weaver's store

a very long, very stuffed rack of housecoats. weaver’s is full of the basics: bins of white underpants, super-cheap duck shoes and work boots and lots of cheap fabric. they also have an automatic mini doughnut maker at the food counter in the lobby!

10/2/09

just go with it

the excitement of a rare visit from a good friend quickly vanished when we got strong armed into driving 30 minutes to some “club” to meet up with others instead of just heading across the street to the town bar for our own catch-up friend time. we spent the entire drive there just straight hating on the entire idea, place, night…we were not happy. but even through the blur and light flashes in the above photo, you can see that we had the best time ever in the world. a simple reminder to just GO WITH IT and see what happens!
